As the leading authority on the outsourcing business model,
GSA conducts ongoing research and surveys, providing our members
with a variety of valuable data. GSA produces a range of publications
and reports that serve the semiconductor industry. Click on
the items below for more details.
GSA Forum is the premier magazine focused on the
semiconductor industry. Each quarter the GSA Forum delivers
a combination of business and technology news,
as well as important industry trends and market forces that
impact operations and product development.
The Wafer Fabrication Pricing Report is designed to gauge the average
prices paid per wafer
and mask set
for fabless semiconductor companies,
as well as integrated device manufacturers (IDMs). The data
is collected confidentially and tabulated in aggregate
by
Grant Thornton, LLP using a weighted industry average
approach.
The Back-End Pricing Report
is available as a stand-along report or as a section to the
Wafer Fabrication Pricing Report. The Back-End Pricing Report
shows how much fabless companies and IDMs are paying for outsourced back-end services (assembly, test and wafer bump). The data
is collected confidentially and tabulated in aggregate
by
Grant Thornton, LLP.
(Formerly the Global Semiconductor Fundings and Financials Report)
This quarterly report includes semiconductor financial data, such as quarterly revenue,
quarterly net income, profit margins, market capitalization, etc., for over 260 fabless and IDM companies worldwide, and highlights pure-play foundry financial activity, EDA financial activity, IP financial activity, design service financial activity and back-end financial activity. An accompanying downloadable Excel spreadsheet is also available. You can also find semiconductor funding data by quarter/year, round, amount raised, geography, etc.; semiconductor IPO activity; and semiconductor M&A activity for the quarters Q4 2004-Q4 2007.
Starting in Q1 2008, GSA will release a quarterly report focused entirely on semiconductor funding data by quarter/year, round, amount raised, geography, etc.; semiconductor IPO activity; and semiconductor M&A activity. An accompanying downloadable Excel spreadsheet of all funding, IPO and M&A data is also available.
This report explores how semiconductor companies and consumer electronics original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can better partner to improve time-to-market and product quality. The report also provides valuable insight to both CE and IC OEMs in developing new consumer products, where time-to-market, product differentiation, quality and product profitability are tantamount.
Silicon-on-insulator (SOI) adoption initially began within the integrated device manufacturer (IDM) community in the late 1990s for its high-performance advantages. Since the demand for information on SOI has spiked in growth over the past few years, GSA and the SOI Industry Consortium collaborated in late 2007 to determine industry awareness and the various perceptions of SOI technology. This joint effort resulted in a report based on survey results conducted in 2008.
This paper addresses the current issues resulting from the proliferation of counterfeits and sales through unauthorized channels. Revenues, product reputations and legitimate channel partnerships are at stake due to the impact counterfeits have on semiconductor companies. GSA will also host a complimentary Webinar discussing this white paper and how companies can take action against IP fraud.
GSA is pleased to introduce a new book written by GSA’s vice president of global research and former board members entitled, Understanding Fabless IC Technology. The book focuses on the fabless business model and provides the reader with an overview of common outsourced semiconductor industry environment business practices, as well as discusses technical, cultural and global issues.
“Building a Better Supply Chain” is a study on how outsourcing and contracting has affected process management in the semiconductor supply chain. A collaborative effort between industry analyst firm Industry Directions, Inc. and GSA, the study demonstrates that while fabless companies are adept at operating in the outsourced model and recognize the importance of the supply chain and how it helps drive competitive advantage, there is significant opportunity for improvement.
GSA has collaborated with IC Insights to produce a unique report unrivaled in relevance and value to outsourcing companies. This report offers the most comprehensive and informative market trends report for the outsourced business model. The Semiconductor Market Report is an essential data resource that encompasses the entire fabless ecosystem. There is no single source or publication of this caliber with the more than 550 pages of easy-to-read charts, graphs and written analysis. All companies in the semiconductor industry will benefit from the data within this report, including outsourcing companies of all sizes (fabless & IDMs), supplier partners, consultants, and individuals wanting to learn more about the outsourced semiconductor ecosystem.
This report provides an in-depth introduction and analysis on SiP market perspectives and related SiP patent issues. It covers all aspects of the SiP supply chain, from the technology, arrangement, configuration, materials use, types of chips, applications and more. The report creates a patent portfolio reference of all leading patents in this technology space and identifies worldwide leaders in various arenas of SiP applications. This research is a definitive guide to navigating the SiP landscape.
In 2008, the GSA and the India Semiconductor Association (ISA), the trade body representing the Indian semiconductor driven industry, signed a collaborative memorandum of understanding to form an organizational alliance. To support this new alliance, both organizations will
exchange industry report and research information which is available to GSA and ISA members, at a discounted price. ISA reports provide an extensive analysis of the India semiconductor community.
